Interstate 295 runs from the Capital Beltway (Interstate 95/495) at Maryland's National Harbor and works its way through southeast Washington, DC to an interchange with the Southeast Freeway (Interstate 695), where it downgrades to D.C. Route 295. DC 295 then proceeds through northeast DC before exiting back into Maryland just prior to the beginning of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. The corridor bears the names of the Anacostia Freeway and Kenilworth Avenue Freeway at various points.
