
U.S. Route 101
Arguably California's most famous highway and one of the most famous in America, U.S. Route 101 runs mainly along California's Pacific Coast beginning in the northeast section of Los Angeles at the East Los Angeles Interchange with Interstates 5 and 10, and running 808 miles to the Oregon border in the Smith River area of Del Norte County. It is an important and heavily-traveled highway in the Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay areas. In addition to L.A. and San Jose/San Francisco, US 101 runs through Oxnard, Ventura, San Luis Obispo, Monterey-Salinas, Santa Rosa, Ukiah and Eureka. It is the highway that, along with California State Route 1, runs along the Golden Gate Bridge, and is a scenic highway in Santa Barbara County and Redwood State Park.
