U.S. Route 222, considered a spur of U.S. Route 22, runs from U.S. Route 1 in Conowingo, Maryland into Pennsylvania, where it passes through Lancaster, Reading and Kutztown before reaching its north end at Interstate 78 just outside of Allentown. It has a business route serving downtown Reading. The route's southern terminus used to be further south, in Perryville, Maryland.
