Known as the Southeast Freeway, Interstate 695, not signed until 2011, connects Interstate 395 due south of Capitol Hill near the boundary between the southwest and southeast District with Interstate 295 and D.C. Route 295 about two miles to the east. I-695 will eventually become a relocated I-395 as federally approved in 2021.
