U.S. Route 15 north - Maryland line to Harrisburg

U.S. Route 15 crosses the Mason-Dixon Line into Freedom Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania after a 38-mile trip through Frederick County, Maryland. US 15 becomes a freeway here and will remain that way for most of its time in Adams County. Photo taken 07-27-2016.

Gettysburg, the seat of Adams County and famed site of the 1863 Battle of Gettysburg of the Civil War, is served by the highway's next six exits. US 15 acts as a bypass of Gettysburg proper through the area. Photo taken 07-27-2016.

The highway is dubbed here as the Blue and Gray Highway, referring to the colors associated with the two sides, Union and Confederate, of the Civil War.
