Interstate 95 south - Wilson to Eastover

Just outside of Wilson, North Carolina, southbound Interstate 95 meets Interstate 587/795/U.S. Route 264 at exit 119. Photo taken 07-14-2025.

From this interchange, US 264 goes west to state capital Raleigh, I-795 south to Goldsboro, and I-587 east to Greenville. All three routes have a three-way concurrency, or triplex, for about four miles eastbound. Photo taken 07-14-2025.

Exit 116 lies right ahead. With the in-progress upgrade of U.S. Route 70 between Garner and New Bern to Interstate 42, there has been some debate as to the future of the NC 42 designation, most notably speculation that it would be renumbered NC 36 (since I-36 was the original proposed designation for I-42).
