Interstate 370 west

IMG_1449_edited.jpg

This access road in Derwood, Montgomery County, Maryland leads from Redland Road to the meeting of the east end of Interstate 370 and the west end of the tolled Maryland Route 200 freeway, which together form the 21-mile Intercounty Connector (ICC) running between Gaithersburg and Laurel in neighboring Prince George's County. This access road also collects traffic from the parking lot of the Shady Grove station of the Washington Metro, the northwest terminus of the system's Red Line. An interchange with Shady Grove Road, where I-370 extended to before the completion of MD 200, is up ahead. (12-1-2025)

In the distance, the highway then goes over CSX's Metropolitan Subdivision (the right-of-way of MARC's Brunswick Line), which the Red Line parallels from North Bethesda (and, on its other end, from Silver Spring to the Brentwood Yard in northeast Washington, DC). (12-1-2025)
